Well I guess I have to face reality and announce that we are back from Never land... What an amazing summer I had!! I must admit going to Camp for the summer was not an easy decision. Justin has been dreaming about it for 4 years, but I on the other hand was worried about how practical leaving jobs and moving out of our apartment and such would be. Just like any hard decision we took it to the one who knows best... and we were definitely supposed to be at Camp Loll this summer. Things with my job couldn't have worked out more perfectly (they kept my job for me! Amazing huh!) and we got all moved right (15 minutes ) before we left for camp.
I've been struggling with posting about camp because it's so hard to put into words. First of all everyone thinks "So you worked at scout camp? That can't be much fun. Sounds like a lot of hard work, and loud boys!" Which is so true!! Well the part about a lot of work and loud boys!! But it WAS fun, and so rewarding. Anyone who worked with me knows that you can't understand until you've been there.
The first thing I noticed was the amazing beauty that part of the world has. I was surrounded by extreme and exquisite beauty everyday.

Then I realized how much work this was going to be. Up at 6:00 am and sometimes not done working until 10:30 pm! This was such a change from 8 hour days and nothing to worry about once I got home... I had so much to do! How many people will need to eat, how long will the meals take, how much food should I order, etc....
It's a good thing I had such great help this summer! I love you Deanna and Neoma!!

And then there was the staff boys...They really get under your skin! I really loved having the crazy staff to rub shoulders with. They are so amazing! It's no wonder I feel like they are all my little (and not so little) brothers!

And it's amazing to realize that not only are these boys cute, funny, and eat a lot, but they help so many scouts have an amazing life changing experience in the woods!
I accomplished a lot this summer.
I hiked to Union falls with Justin and some of the girls. This was extra special because this is where Justin proposed to me 4 years ago!! And it was quite an accomplishment- 16 miles is a long way!

I went repelling at Ceyho- a 90 ft repel. That was probably the most exhilarating feeling of the summer. I was on top of the world!

I hike Survey peak which is a part of the Teton Range. (It is a small Teton, but still should be included!) I was the only girl to go which made it funny. "Look, Lauren's up there! We can't let a GIRL beat us!"

I survived a swim check in a cold mountain lake while there was still snow on the ground! I swear I would've died if Jason hadn't talked me through it...(thanks Jason!) I think my life seriously passed before me at some point, but I'm alive to tell about it! So that's definitely a good sign.
I also am a member of the Polar Bear Club! 10 full seconds under a glacier fed waterfall! That will surely wake you up!

I survived 7 weeks of Scout Master Lunch Thursdays! That is probably the biggest accomplishment I've mentioned yet.
Our Menu: Spaghetti Sauce, Spaghetti Noodles, Salad, Bread sticks, Green Beans, Chocolate Cake, and Punch.
Our Guests: The Scoutmasters and adult leaders who are in Camp that week. (Usually 70 -112 people)
Our Quest: To finish the food on time (can't be late) but not too early (we want it still to be hot) and still have leftovers for seconds if they eat a lot (which they always do) all the while about 20 staff members are raiding the kitchen for leftovers (we didn't mind that they were there, but it did add difficulty!) WOW!!! Below is the amount of cans we went through just for LUNCH on Thursdays!
I miss Camp Loll almost everyday. I learned and grew so much there! And I'm so grateful to Justin for taking me to camp with him! What a great place to share an adventure of a lifetime...

I'm so glad you're back and that you had a great time. Your hair is getting so long! And I don't know if that is directed towards Lauren or Justin :)
All that cooking probably makes you feel like you could run a restaurant with ease!
When are we going to hang out?
I'm glad you were able to go for the summer. That may be the last time you are able to go (you know, life happens!). I'm glad we were able to come visit and see you in action! Nobody would have been able to survive without your wonderful meals Lauren! Way to go!
Oh my Wilderness Wonder Woman, how cool are you! What an awesome summer I'm so glad you got to experience it. I wouldn't have the courage to.
COOL!! We really enjoyed talking with you two the other night. It was good getting to know you better. Hopefully we'll have more reasons to get together soon!
